Wilson BlX Six.One Tour Racquet Review
The Wilson BLX Six.One Tour racquet is the racquet of choice by Roger Federer. Let's see how good it actually is.
Specifications
With a 90 square inch head size, this racquet gives the player the most control they could ask for. If you want to hit the ball cross court and have your eye on where the two lines meet, then this racquet will hit it for you there. However, when I tried this racquet out, I felt that the control was not all hype, but the racquet gave very little power and I had to generate everything myself. This racquet compromises pretty much all of the power to get the control. However, I loved the feel of this racquet from shot number one. It gave me the sense that I could hit like Federer and everything felt right about it. This racquet has a strung weight of 12.5 ounces which is very heavy for a tennis racquet. The weight gives it a very stiff nature which is great for serves and volleys. Volleying with this racquet is the best I have ever felt. My volleys are good but with this racquet, it took it to the next level. Also, with the head light nature of this racquet and a stiffness of 65, serves were a breeze. Kick serves went great with this racquet because of the small racquet head size.
Pros
This racquet gives the player a very clean feel, because of the solid make. Slices are made effortlessly due to the aerodynamic nature of the racquet. This racquet is probably the best racquet for control that i have ever played with and would recommend it for players who like control more than power. This racquet also cuts through the ball like any other and helps with the serves: kick or slice. This is a very solid racquet.
Cons
Due to the small head size, power is very compromised. For those who wish to just swing the racquet and expect the racquet to produce the power, the BLX Six.One Tour will not do it for you. You will have to have a strong arm and wrist to be able to wield this racquet. Also, due to its weight, it is pretty hard on the arms for young players who do not have enough strength. There are not a lot of cons in this racquet but the power and weight are some of the things that drive players the other way.
Conclusion
Overall, this is a great racquet. I would strongly recommend this for experienced players who are able to hold the racquet with ease and are able to generate their own power. The feel that this racquet gives is not comparable to any other racquet. This racquet is currently priced at $199 but is well worth it. At higher levels of the game, a good racquet is always needed to get the most out of the player's skill. Don't use your skill trying to use the racquet, but let the racquet use your skill to deliver the best game you can provide.
