Everyone makes mistakes and that includes those who live in the eyes of the media. The difference between us and them is that if they want to stay in public office, keep playing tennis.
Are those demands there to make us feel as though that person who did that awful thing learned something? Is it just a game to make us, the observers, comfortable enough to move forward? Are we the parents reprimanding our children and then demanding that they show some humility? .
Everyone makes mistakes and that includes those who live in the eyes of the media. The difference between us and celebrities is that if they want to stay in public office, keep playing tennis, acting, or selling records a public apology is tantamount for continued future success.
No doubt this will play out similar to so many other recent and not so recent events where people showed their true colors. Should the people ( you know who you are) in those town home meetings across the country apologize for their rude and obnoxious behavior while discussing health care? Why should they? They believe they had every right, right?
Personally, I'm not an advocate of misbehaving and communicating in a fashion that destroys human relations. However, I also understand that nobody's perfect. People do and say things that they regret everyday. Some are truly sorry for the negative communication that takes place during some weak moments. Others are not and have an attitude of righteousness. At the end of the day some will apologize because they mean it, some won't, and others will because it's damage control.
