With the Petkodance Retired, What Will Andrea Petkovic Do Now?
The upcoming of German tennis talent and entertainer Andrea Petkovic who is taking the tennis world by storm in the year 2020.
Ofcourse Petkovic is most famous for her Petkodance. A ritual she performed after a match. And almost always after she won. Ofcourse it is very entertaining for the spectators and YouTubers, like myself, to watch Petkovic dance. And it was an even bigger riot when Petkovic convinced Ana Ivanovic to dance. Phone made videos of the audience popped up on YouTube and then she announced that she was going to retire the dance. I have to say that when I saw her do the Petkodance for the last time ever it looked a little forced. Like she was a little tired of doing it and that it all the attention of her doing the dance was somehow the most tiring part. Perhaps that played a role in her decision to retire the dance and instead think of something else. She said she was going to do something new at the press conference of the Sony Ericsson Open, so who know what she will surprise us with.
And then there were the people who were not so happy with her dance. Like Maria Sharapova who took a jab at Petkovic dance at the press conference after their meeting at the Sony Ericsson Open 2020.
I am not sure if I ever want to attend a match of Maria Sharapova anyway. I imagine it like a party where the music volume is set to the highest level and you have to yell to get your message to the person standing next to you and then comes the moment where the music stops and everybody falls quiet, except you: SO ARE YOU SURE IT IS GOING TO BE A DOUBLE BAGEL? Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy watching Sharapova and her game but I just think that the shrieking is so much louder in real life.
Anyway I digress. Yes, the Petkodance has been retired but what will she do now? I can't wait to see it. She knows her fans are waiting for her to do something new and let's face it: Without the dance, the WTA just became a little less colorful.
