Creative Ideas to Personalize Old Navy Flip Flops
With a little imagination and some great Old Navy Flip Flops and you can have a memorable and personal pair of summer shoes.
Tropical.
You can give your Old Navy flip flops a great tropical look by adding silk flowers to them. This can be done in your favorite bright summer colors and can add a look that makes your entire summer brighter.
You will need: You will need Old Navy flip flops in bright summer colors, silk flowers that are about two to three inches in width and in matching colors or contrasting colors to your flip flops, super glue, nylon beading thread, a needle, and some scissors.
The Process: Carefully remove the flowers from any stems or leaves that they come with. You will want to trim the bottoms so that they aren't as bulky, but not too much so as to remove the parts that are holding the flower together (this really depends on the flowers you choose). Thread the nylon thread onto your needle. Wrap it around your flip flop thong and tie a knot on the underside at the far right hand side. Add a dab of super glue to this knot and let it dry. You will want to wrap your thread over this same spot four or five times to make sure that if your knot doesn't stay stuck to the bottom your thread won't be moving. Make sure it stays tight with each wrap. Run the needle through the underside of the flower and pull the flower and thread tight to the top of the flip flop thong. Wrap your thread around the thong twice and make sure each wrap is tight. Add flowers in this manner till the top of the entire thong is covered with bright festive flowers.
Variations: With this same method you can add buttons, sequins, and even feathers (it is easiest if you cut off a small section of a narrow "feather" boa).

Beaded.
Beading Old Navy flip flops can also add that touch of special that you want for special personalized flip flops. It doesn't take a lot of time or a ton of materials. You also don't have to have any fancy experience to make it happen.
You will need: Beads of your choice, anything up to about 6-8mm. Pick ones you really like. Try silver toned beads, gemstone beads, crystals, or cats eye beads. Or you can go with seed beads and pick a color theme or pattern. You will want to pick out Old Navy flip flops that match this theme or your colored beads. You will need nylon thread and a beading needle, a large eye needle, scissors, and super glue.
The Process: Take your large heavy duty needle and carefully puncture small holes about 1/4" apart all across the thong of the flip flop. Next thread your beading needle with nylon thread. You will want to attach it by wrapping it around the thong and tying it on the bottom. Make sure you tie it tight and glue your knot. Add a bead or a few beads to go the distance to the whole. Run your needle through the whole and bring it up on the next one. Add more beads. Thread it through the next whole. Continue in this manner till you get to the end of the thong. Wrap around the thong and tie it, make sure you glue your knot. You can leave it like that or turn around and use the opposite wholes for adding beads so the entire top of the thong is beaded. Make sure you finish it by tying a knot and gluing it.
Variations:You can use this same method to decorate your Old Navy flip flops with sequins as well.
This is a great way to have a beautiful beaded or sparkly look. It can completely change the Old Navy flip flops and make them truly yours. It only takes a few minutes and can really add the personal touch to your shoes.
Charmed.
You can add charms to your Old Navy flip flops as well. These can gently dangle down onto your feet or be added to the top of the thong to add decorations there. Either way this is a great option for personalizing your Old Navy flip flops.
You will need: One to two dozen charms and jump rings. Choose charms that match your personality and that you really like. Pick out Old Navy flip flops that match the theme you are working with or that seem to say you. You will need a large stiff needle and a two pairs of pliers.
The Process: To get charms that hang off the top of the thong and down over it you will want to puncture holes about 1/4" from the top edge of the thong all across the thong (about 1 every 1/4-1/2"). If you want them to dangle down along your feet you can do the same method to the bottom edge of the thong. Using your pliers twist your jump rings open (hold the ring in each plier and pull one towards you while pushing the other one away from you). Add the charm and hook it through the hole. Twist the ring closed (bring the opposite side toward you and the press the other side backward till your ends meet). Work your way along the edge completing each hole.
Variations: You can use beads on head pins in the same way for a great beaded dangle.
This can make for a very cute set of Old Navy flip flops. Make sure you take your time and that you are careful to make your holes far enough away from the edge so you don't pull them out easily. You will have a wonderfully personal and lovely pair of flip flops for the summer season.

You can easily do each project for $8 if you have the tools and are only buying supplies. You can get fancier options with more money.
