Reach for the Stars - an Usborne Books Reading Challenge

If you're a leader of a school group or another organization geared towards kids, why not consider hosting a Reach for the Stars Usborne reading challenge? Help increase literacy and make the community aware of the importance of reading.

With Usborne book's Reach for the Stars program, every participant is challenged to read 300 minutes in ten days since thirty minutes of reading a day is recommended for child development. While the children do the reading, they also collect pledges from their family, friends, and neighbors. This Usborne program gives at least 100% of the pledge money back to the group and individual children. Since Usborne book consultants have the ability to run their business how they would like, some consultants may offer different percentages but most will offer an additional 10% when total pledges reach a certain goal.

An Usborne consultant will work the group on the specific percentages but in general, 50% of the pledge money will go to the children to get Usborne books while the rest goes to the group or organization. The group can use their free books to supply Usborne books for their library or if they don't have a personal need for the books, many organizations will chose to donate their free Usborne books to a local children's charity. Depending on the amount of pledges collected, some Usborne consultants will offer the group a cash option so the Reach for the Stars program can be used as a fundraiser as well.

Usborne books offer several programs that can be used with schools and other organizations such as book fairs and grant matching programs. Watch for further articles pertaining to these programs.
