Andre Agassi Admits to Crystal Meth Use in His New Book, "Open: An Autobiography" - Agassi's Secret

Andre Agassi's drug us in his new book, "Open: An Autobiography". Agassi confesses using Crystal Meth and lying about it when getting caught. Agassi is married to Steffi Graf, a fellow tennis player. Read more.

I don't think anyone is going to buy a book about a sports star that denotes growing up in a house like the one on "Leave It to Beaver", working hard to become a pro, and then retire happily ever after. It is sad, but this stuff in a book would sit on the shelf and accumulate dust. To sensationalize is to sell, and this is the trend in memoirs today.

The 39 year old Agassi said that while taking the meth he tested positive and was facing a three month suspension from the tennis circuit. He blamed it on his assistant spiking his drink and although he ingested the substance, he replied that he "unknowingly" did so. This worked and he got away with it.

Andre Agassi's book, "Open: An Autobiography", is due out on November 9th.

Agassi gave an interview to the Times of London and describes how he started getting high with his assistant he calls "Slim". He goes on to say that even why he was saying yes, the words felt as if they were coming from someone else's mouth.

In detail, Agassi explains how "Slim" dumps the white powder on the table and when it was Agassi's turn, he snorts it. This action was followed by instant regret and vast sadness from realizing what he had just done.

The regret and sadness was short lived once the euphoria of the drug swept over him, Agassi reports. He explains his first encounter with crystal meth as never feeling so alive and the drug swept everything negative out of his head. He said he never felt such energy.

"I'm seized by a desperate desire to clean. I go tearing around my house, cleaning it from top to bottom. I dust the furniture. I scour the tub. I make the beds."

The book conveys Agassi's life as a tennis hero who won eight grand slam titles. He admits he has always secretly hated the game.

Andre Agassi, the tennis star, who's married to fellow pro Steffi Graf is doing many interviews as a prelude to the release of his new book. He did report feeling ashamed about the use of crystal meth and his lying to the tennis world.
