Chocolate Rain to OMG Shoes!: The Best Viral Videos on YouTube
YouTube has great a great number of viral videos online posted by its users that have helped shape the internet culture of America. Here is my personal list of the best viral videos on YouTube.
These internet phenomenons never cease to entertain; soon enough, these website favorites shape the internet culture of America, forming a great amount of humorous memes (See Top 5 Internet Memes ). This is a great example of the power of technology in shaping internet culture and lingo everywhere, bringing laughs to all with creativity and goofy exaggerated parodies.
My list of favorites spans far and wide, but the top 3 YouTube viral videos I always show to my friends are the following:
Numa Numa
Featuring the famous Ozone pop song Dragonstea Din Tei, Gary Brolsma dances and lip-syncs to the song, shaking his headphone-geared head to the beat and pumping his arms into stardom. His style and facial expressions are wonderfully unique, earning him the title of the "Numa Numa Guy" by millions of YouTube viewers. It is a must watch and guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone's face. Have a laugh as you enjoy a new spin to the Romanian song, being one of the 36 million viewers that have witnessed this fantastic Internet spectacle!
OMG! shoes
Created in 2020, this video is a parody about all blonde teenage girls obsessed with shopping and controlled by violent mood swings. The main character Kelly, played by comedian Liam Kyle Sullivan, has an undying and unhealthy love for shoes, and will stop at nothing to get shoes that "rule". Combined with homemade, catchy beats, the phrase "Oh my God, Shoes!" was programmed into everyone's vocabulary usage, including mine. This YouTube video was viewed by over 6 million people to date, and continues to increase!
Sitting on a Toilet
Basically, the video is about a girl rapping about sitting on a toilet, but it is really worth a watch. Interestingly enough, the video "Sitting on a Toilet" was originally a prank. Nonnie, the actress singing in the video, stole her sister's flip phone, made the video, and forgot to delete it. When her sister discovered the video, she posted it on YouTube for the world to see. Funnily enough, it achieved over 5 million viewers and is now a famous well-known song.
