My Top 5 Sneakers of 2020

There have been many sick shoes to have come out this year. 2020 has been full of great releases of retro sneakers to brand new kicks. Nike, Reebok, and Adidas have made sure that sneakerheads have had a wide selection to choose from this year. From Nike Foamposites to Reebok Pumps in an abundance of colorways people were tweeting pictures of the pair they just picked up online or ones they got waiting in line in front of a store. I picked up a few this year mostly from the Air Jordan line and the Nike SC Trainers, which were Bo Jackson's sneakers from back in the day. Here are my top 5 sneakers that I was able to pick up this year.

1. Air Jordan XI - This shoe started to become a holiday tradition for Nike. Around Christmas Nike would release the XI's in a different colorway each year. Some sneakerheads use the nicknames for shoes. Some of the names for the XI's are the Space Jams (Black and Blue color), Concords (Black and White color), and the Breds (Black and Red color). This year the XI's were the ones that Michael Jordan wore after coming out of his first retirement when the Chicago Bulls went 72-10. Jordan went from wearing the black and white colorway XI to the black and red colorway when the Bulls reached the playoffs and went on to win the NBA Finals against the Seattle Supersonics in 1996.

2. SC Trainer (49ers) - Talk about a shoe being in someone's wheelhouse. I am a big fan of Bo Jackson and his sneakers (SC Trainer) and the 49ers (colors of this SC Trainer) and Nike put them together. This year Nike became the sponsor for the NFL's apparel and uniforms. To celebrate this Nike started to select certain sneakers and use NFL team colors for their shoes. Since Bo Jackson played in the NFL and the SC Trainer and was one of the shoes that Nike used for this campaign. Like I stated earlier one of these colorways happened to be the 49ers. As soon as I heard that this shoe was coming out I found out the release date and picked up the kicks that weekend.

3. Air Jordan IX - When Michael Jordan retired for the first time, Nike still came out with his basketball shoe, which was the Air Jordan IX. The Air Jordan IX was designed by Tinker Hatfield and this was the first Air Jordan shoe that MJ did not play basketball in. Other NBA stars did play in the IX and a special version was made with cleats so Jordan could use them while he was playing baseball for the Birmingham Barons. This version of the IX is called "Cool Grey" and was released in December.

4. Nike Air Force 180 Mid - Besides watching MJ play, I was a huge fan of San Antonio Spurs center, David Robinson. He had a few shoes designed by Nike and one of them was the Nike Air Force 180 Mid. Back in 1992, this shoe came with a pump system, but this year when Nike re-released this sneaker there was no pump. The shoe has been released in different colorways this year. There was even a pair that would glow in the dark. Just like me, people who grew up in the 90's bought these kicks.

5. Air Jordan Golden Moments Package - To celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the 1992 "Dream Team" winning the gold medal during the summer Olympics, Nike released the Golden Moments package. This pack comes with Air Jordan VI and Air Jordan VII. The Air Jordan VI is white and gold and the insole has a red, white, and blue theme resembling the American flag. The Air Jordan VII is black and gold and has the same insole as the VI. The Golden Moments package was one of the most highly anticipated pairs of shoes this year and sold out within one hour online.
