Deadliest Catch Star Found Dead in New Time Bandit Loss
The crew on "Deadliest Catch" just marked the one-year anniversary of Captain Phil Harris's death. Now they have to mourn engineer turned deckhand Justin Tennison, as he was found dead in a hotel room yesterday.
Justin Tennison was 33 years old, and a crew member of the famed Time Bandit boat. Every week on the Discovery Channel, fans have seen Tennison and the crew fight through the Bering Sea, in the midst of crab fishing season.
Yet the Deadliest Catch star wasn't found dead on the sea, or on the Time Bandit. Instead, police recovered Tennison's body in a hotel room at Homer, Alaska yesterday. According to TMZ, several bottles of alcohol, and small amounts of marijuana, were in the room with him.
An autopsy is scheduled for today, to answer the obvious questions on why Tennison died. Allegedly, Tennison hosted a party the night before his death, and with marijuana and alcohol already in the room, questions are raised as to what else was at this party.
The sight of the Deadliest Catch star found dead has shocked the Time Bandit crew, and all of their fans. Tennison had been rising up the ranks on the Time Bandit, according to Captain Andy Hillstrand. He stated on Facebook that Tennison had been an engineer on the boat, yet he had just been promoted to deckhand during the latest crab season.
Tragedy is not uncommon to the show, as this is their second great loss in over a year. In fact, the Cornelia Marie just honored the one year anniversary of Captain Phil Harris's death 15 days ago. He passed from a stroke on February 9, 2020, but he lingered in the hospital for days beforehand
This case of a Deadliest Catch star found dead is much more sudden, and out of nowhere. Friends, family, crew members and a national audience were able to mourn Harris over time, and send their final goodbyes before the end. But Tennison passed away much more suddenly, and without any warning or reason.
Although the crews on the show regularly face harsh conditions on the sea, they have lost two of their own on dry land in 12 months. But despite this second Deadliest Catch star found dead, the fishermen will mourn Tennison like they mourned Captain Harris, and likely carry on their missions in their honor.
