Unique and Creative Ways to Use Tennis Balls

Try these unique and creative ways to use tennis balls. They can be used as handy holders, gorgeous home decor and more.

Make Smiley Face Clips with Tennis Balls

Tennis balls make fantastic clips to hold mail, pens, dishcloths and more, and they can do it with a smile. Attach plastic craft eyes with epoxy, or draw them on with a fine tip black marker. Using a utility knife, make a straight slit where the mouth should go. Attach it to a solid surface from the inside out with a drywall nail. Squeeze the ball to open the mouth. It will make a unique and very cute holder in an office, a kitchen, a bedroom or any other appropriate location.

Protect Floors from Rusty or Heavy Furniture Legs

Plastic sliders and similar floor protectors are not necessary when you have a canister of unused tennis balls on hand. They will accommodate furnishings with wide or narrow legs, and they are very easy to use. Cut a single slit in each one of the tennis balls. The openings should be just large enough to hold the legs of the furnishings. They will prevent rust stains on floors, dents and other unsightly marks, and the furnishings will be easy to slide and move when necessary.

Create Handy Jar Openers

Special jar openers are not required if you have extra tennis balls on hand. Cut one in half to create equal sides, and keep them in a kitchen drawer. They have a rubberized lining, and they can be used to grip jars that seem impossible to open. The concave shape makes them much more effective than thin flat grippers.

Add Beads with Pins to Make Decorative Orbs

Tennis balls make fantastic bases for bobbles and beads. Buy dozens of pins with round plastic heads, and use them with glass beads of your choice to beautifully decorate tennis balls. Cover every open space. They will no longer look at all like tennis balls. They can be used as decorative orbs in a bowl, or they can be suspended from clear thread or ribbon in front of a window or on the branches of a holiday tree.
