Graphics

Gameplay
While Mario Power Tennis plays like your typical tennis video game, it does have some arcade elements that separates the Nintendo Wii game from the rest of the genre.
In New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis, you have several tricks you can do to the tennis ball. These include topspin, slice, lob, drop shot and smash. Players can also charge any of those shots by holding the corresponding buttons while waiting for the tennis ball to arrive. Doing so will give you more control about where the returned tennis ball will land on the opponent's court.
One unique exclusive element to Mario Power Tennis is power shots. Throughout the match, your tennis racquet will begin to grow depending on your actions. Once it reaches the maximum level, you will be given an opportunity to perform a power shot. These special moves are character specific and are also situational. Depending on how close you are to the tennis ball, you can perform a powerful offensive shot or save an out-of-reach ball with a defensive shot.
Aside from the usual modes for a tennis game, New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis has some wacky modes that changes up the formula. The first of which is gimmick tennis courts that have their own set of environmental interactions. In addition, players can also play Item Battle, a special match where players can use items to change the flow of the match (similar to Mario Kart). More advance players can play Ring Shot, a mode where they must hit the ball through the various rings on the tennis court. Finally, there are several special mini-games that utilize the core gameplay of New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis
New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis will add motion capabilities to the overall package. However, it seems like the speedy gameplay may be a little too much for the imprecise controls. If players can get used to it than New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis will definitely be the best tennis game on the Nintendo Wii.
