Show Reviews Entertainment: The Many Moods of a Violinist
At times it seems as though Rachel’s violin is on fire as she glides her bow across the strings. These are emotional passages in the music, usually complex and very difficult to play.

At times it seems as though Rachel's violin is on fire as she glides her bow across the strings. These are emotional passages in the music, usually complex and very difficult to play.
Rachel excels with her technically proficient performance with the violin yet in almost all of her musical numbers she seems to be racing to show off. I would like to hear Rachel play some of the beautiful melodies of the great musical works for a change.
As a solo violinist, Rachel commands the audience's attention without any other sounds but hers. The orchestra may overpower Rachel's music.
Rachel is only in her 30's and already recognized for her talents. One of the best selections in Rachel's Capricho Latino CD is "Ferdinand the Bull", an exciting story narrated by Hector Elizondo. Rachel's violin's story telling was brilliant with dramatic mood swings.
I was surprised that Rachel listens to quite a mixture of musical styles like rock and heavy metal music in order for her to relax and unwind. She also visits rock radio stations to perform chamber music versions of rock and metal songs which are followed by a classical piece. In the summer of 2020, Rachel became the first violinist to be a core component of a six piece, thrash/doom metal band.
During her 2020-2020 season she will perform with Brazil's Orquesta Filarmonica de Minas Gerais, Poland's Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the Calgary and Las Vegas Philharmonics, and the Columbus and Tallahassee Symphonies among others. Throughout the season she will play works by Bernstein, Brahms, Bruch, Corigliano, Glazunov, Korngold, Ravel, Sarasate, Vaughan Williams and Vivaldi. She will perform the five Mozart Violin Concertos with the New York Chamber Soloists in Florida, Texas and California.
Rachel played the violin from the age of three; she made her debut with the Chicago Symphony at the age of 10, and by 14 was contributing to her families' income. After Rachel appeared in Las Vegas as guest artist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic Orchestra, in the University of Nevada's Artemus Ham Hall, she conducted a master class for violin at Clark High School. www.rachelbartonpine.com
