Xbox One Console Unveiled by Microsoft with a Limited $10 Credit for Signup
Microsoft's newest gaming console, the Xbox One, was unveiled today at Microsoft's headquarters. In addition to games, the console seeks to be a complete entertainment center with Skype, DVD and Streaming capabilities as well as new shows and programming
The Xbox One, Microsoft's long awaited, new gaming console, made its public debut at their headquarters on Tuesday, May 21st. The company says that its goal was not to make a console that was just for gamers, but to design a console that would become an easily accessible, all-in-one entertainment system.
The console is designed to make it easy for users to stream music, Live TV, videos, movies and other programming, by voice and gesture control, via the new Kinect sensor. The new console also features a 8 core CPU with 8 gigabytes of system memory and a 500 gigabytes HDD, though users will also be able to store content such as movies, games and music in the cloud as well.
The console's hardware also allows the creation of games with game play that provides a more cinematic feel. Skype comes built into the system so that users can make Skype Video Calls. Also included with the console are a sleek, updated controller, Blu-ray Drive, HDMI In/Out, USB 3.0 and 802.11n wireless with Wi-Fi Direct.
During the Microsoft reveal event, the company announced that it's studios would release 15 exclusive games for the new console in the first year. Third party games for the console will also include the much anticipated sequel Call of Duty: Ghosts from Activision Blizzard Inc., as well as the EA Games Ignite series, which will feature Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, EA SPORTS UFC and NBA LIVE 14.
Microsoft also announced that exclusive National Football League programming would be available on the console. New programs will also be developed exclusively for the console, including a new television series that will be built around the wildly successful Halo series of video games and is to be produced by Steven Spielburg.
Microsoft has also announced in it's store that for a limited time, buyers can receive a $10 online store credit with they sign-up for a pre-order notification for the Xbox One on or before June 9, 2020.
